Collection Development

Covers several activities related to the development of library collection, including selection, the determination and coordination of selection policy, assessments of the needs of the users and potential users, budget management, identification of collection needs, community and user outreach liaison, planning for resource sharing, and e-resources contract review and negotiation. The goal of collection development is to provide the library with a collection that meets the appropriate needs of its client population within the limits of its fiscal and personnel resources.
